This little temp sensor lets you use any ordinary hard drive as a replacement. It installs on the hard drive easily and there have been no compatibility issues with my mid-2010 27' iMac running High Sierra 10.13.5. Mind you, opening the iMac isn't the easiest but with the proper tools and the helpful video on the Other World Computing website it is quite do-able if you are careful. Highly recommended.
